HostsMan is a freeware application that lets you manage your Hosts file with ease.

Main Window
Menu File

- Open Hosts: opens the hosts file in the default editor.
- Import/Export…: displays a wizard that allows the user to import/export the hosts file from/to a text, compressed or encrypted file.
- Enable Hosts: if this menu item as a checkmark on the left side, that means the system is using the hosts file to resolve hostnames.
- Exit: closes HostsMan.
Menu Hosts

- Check for Updates…: updates hosts file.
- Manage Update Sources…: allows the user to manage the the sources that HostsMan uses to update hosts file.
- Scan Hosts file…: scans hosts file for errors, possible hijacks and excluded entries.
- Find duplicates…: searches hosts file for duplicate hostnames.
- Replace IP: quickly replaces specific IPs with another IP, in hosts file.
- Delete Comments…: quickly deletes all comments present in hosts file.
- Replace IP…: replaces, in hosts, a specified IP with another.
- Count Hostnames: displays the number of hostnames present in hosts file.
- Manage Backups: allows to quickly create, delete and restore backups of hosts file.
- Inclusion List: allows to edit the inclusion list (Not yet implemented!).
- Exclusion List: allows to edit the exclusion list.

Menu Tools

- Options…: allows to configure HostsMan.
- HostsMan Editor: opens the built-in hosts file editor.

HostsMan Editor lets you edit the content of hosts file.
- Open Hosts folder: opens Command Prompt or Windows Explorer in the folder where hosts file is stored.
- Flush DNS Cache: clears the cache of DNS Client service (not available in Windows 98/Me). This is the same as running the command ipconfig /flushdns in the command line.
- Resolve Host Name…: Tries to resolve a specific host name.
- HostsServer: has access to HostsServer’s Control Panel and Log Viewer.
- Additional Information: displays basic information about the operating system, HostsMan and the hosts file. It also allows to fix the location of hosts file.
